EP#8 | From Gut Feeling to Great Decisions: Intuition That Learns

A stock trader has a feel for when the market is moving. A highly intuitive coach sitting in front of the same trading machine may have strong intuition but it will not be relevant there. Intuition is not general. It is specific to the domain in which it has been developed. Knowing whether an entrepreneur will be consistent requires a completely different calibration than knowing market direction.

Intuition that learns is not the same as intuition that exists. The gut feeling that works in one domain can mislead in another. The development question is not how to trust your gut. It is how to build a gut that is calibrated correctly for the domain you operate in. That is a developable skill, not a personality trait.
